Town Square, Nov. 27, 2019

Town Square is an opinion column to which readers can submit their views. As a true community newspaper, we’re always looking for ways to include local thought and pertinent viewpoints. This column is a way to share those thoughts. Civility and fair comment will always prevail.

Delmarva Community Services (DCS) hosts “Coffee with a Cop” on the first Tuesday of every month at DCS at 10:15 a.m., and on the second Tuesday of every month at the Hurlock Senior Center at 10:30 a.m. It’s a chance to hear from the Sheriff’s Office and to present your questions or concerns. There will be free coffee at the events.
NICE WORK: Government officials assisting everyday people with everyday issues. That is what I voted for.

APPROVAL: That’s a great idea!

NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC DEBATE: Let me get this straight — my party that claims to champion for economic equality and opportunities for all, is the same party that excludes candidates from debating when they fail to raise enough money or gain enough support? So, if Sanders and Warren really are who they claim to be, they would refuse to debate, until every candidate is given the same opportunity. Are they scared of the competition or is it self-interest?

‘GRATITUDE GANGSTAS’: You may have seen the Groove City Trekkers, out every day around Cambridge, walking in their royal blue hoodies with the big H (as in Harriet Tubman) on them. This month they’re calling themselves the “Gratitude Gangstas,” and they’re giving out gift cards to unsuspecting folks along their walks, and bringing smiles along the way. During this season of thanks, we are grateful for the Groove City Trekkers. They are part of the nationwide walking movement known as GirlTrek: Healthy Black Women and Girls, which aims to improve the health and well-being of thousands nationwide. GirlTrek was founded in honor of Harriet Tubman (who was born here in Dorchester County) and her long walks to freedom.

LOVE: This is so inspiring. I love seeing these ladies walking. They are even more motivating than before.

ALL HEART: You people are wonderful — happiness and gratitude trailing in your wake in the hearts of others.
