CAMBRIDGE — The Vikings’ junior varsity boys’ basketball team is closing their 2015-16 season with a series of wins. Cambridge-South Dorchester beat Kent Island 55-42 on Tuesday, led by top scorers Tyonbre McKnight with 19 and Isaiah Foster with 14.

The Vikes started the game with a strong performance, up by 15 at one point, but faltered in the second quarter with nine missed layups. At the halftime break, C-SD led 23-16.

Coach Tom Frazier said, “Our defense has been ok. When you hold them to 16, you expect to be up by more.”
Coach Frazier told his players they were holding the ball too long and dribbling inside, rather than passing, which led to Buccaneer steals.

But the third quarter was a different story, seeing the Vikes advance the tally to 39-26. In the final period with 1:53 left on the clock and the score at 53-33, Coach Frazier moved down the bench low-fiving his men, saying, “Hey guys, way to fight back.”

The Vikings’ JV team’s record stands at 9-3.
