CAMBRIDGE — The Lady Vikings continued a strong season on Tuesday, beating county rivals North Dorchester 43-26.

Ashia Wright was C-SD’s top scorer, with 11, followed by JaZhana Butler and freshman Abby Robinson, both with 10. Wright also showed her versatility – one of the “bigs,” usually expected to dominate the boards with Butler, Ashia thrilled the crowd with some fancy ball handling.

As C-SD jumped out to an 11-point lead in the first quarter, freshman Natalya Pritchett, Abby Robinson and Latisha Williams, up from JV, got extra playing time. The first half ended with a 23-11 Viking lead.

Jamaya Conaway paced the Eagles’ offense with 12, and Nicole Waples added 10.
The Eagles have been working hard to build a girls’ basketball program, and Coach Bernard Ward sees progress taking place.

“We’re only losing Kayla [Allen to graduation],” he said. “She’s one of my founders.”

Coach Ward was upbeat following the game, having seen his girls play hard to the final buzzer. “They’ll be alright,” said with a nod. “They’ll be alright.”
