RICHMOND, Va. — The Special Olympics Summer Games for Virginia were on June 8 at the University of Richmond and Pat Losty formerly of Cambridge competed in three swimming events: 100 IM, 100 Breaststroke, and 100 Freestyle.

Pat won Gold Medals in both the 100 IM and the 100 Freestyle. The Virginia Summer Games now celebrating 50 years is the largest state-level competition offered by Special Olympics Virginia with more than 1,200 athletes competing in sports such as Softball, Track and Field, Tennis, Bowling and Swimming.

The weekend event also included Healthy Athletes screenings, the Law Enforcement Torch Run, Volunteer2Cheer opportunities, Olympic Town activities, along with an amazing Opening Ceremony.

Editor’s note: Pat used to help out downtown helping keep the main street looking good.
