SHILOH — Administrators of North Dorchester High School have named their athletes of the month for September and October. The honor is given to those who have not only excelled in their sports, but also as students and citizens.
Whitten Insurance provided October’s varsity athletes with a gift. An anonymous sponsor gave Regal Cinemas tickets to the junior varsity winners.

October
Varsity Boys Soccer
Devin Lord (Jr.) – Devin is an extremely hard worker both on and off the field. He has played in every game, pretty much every minute of the season and works hard on everything in practice. Off the field, he has recently been inducted into the National Honor Society, showing that his hard work in school has paid off.

Varsity Volleyball
Anna Hubbard (Sr.) – Anna has played at the varsity level for three years and is one of the captains this year. “She has been at every practice and game and tries to stay positive regardless of how the match goes,” a statement from the school said. “She has a strong, consistent serve and has worked hard this year on being able to intentionally move her serves around, resulting in several aces per set. Her hits and digs have both improved this year, making her a valuable all-around player on the court.”

JV Cross Country
Hannah Piasecki (Soph.) – “She shows up every day ready to beat her best and has consistently improved her time throughout the season,” the statement said. “She has competed in every race and always gives her best effort during races and at practice.”

JV Girls’ Soccer
Mackenzie Hughes (Soph.) – “This is Mackenzie’s first year ever playing soccer and she has become our most aggressive, hungry player,” the statement said. “She is fast, sometimes too fast for her own good. She has worked so hard on keeping control of the ball and not just plowing through opponents. She always, always has a smile on her face and asks questions constantly to become a better player. She is an all-around outstanding athlete.”

September’s varsity athletes of the month were sponsored by Metal Arc. The JV honorees were sponsored by Regal Cinemas.

Varsity Boys’ Soccer
Todd Lehmann (Sr.) – Todd is one of the hardest working athletes on the team. “He is a critical member of the soccer team’s defensive line,” the statement said. “He is also a very hard worker in his classes as well as outside of the school, as he is involved with his church and other outside projects.”

Varsity Volleyball
Kayley Bradley (Sr.) – Kayley is one of the team’s captains this year and has been a strong force at the net. She plays middle hitter/blocker and has racked up several blocks and hits every match. “She struggled with her serves during our first two matches, but has worked hard to bring her serving average up and has even gotten several aces recently,” the statement said.

JV Cross Country
Nasir Polk (Fr.) – Nasir is a first-year runner who came out of the gates raring for a victory. He led much of the first race against Cambridge-South Dorchester, and finished second on his team with a very respectable 20:16 for the tough 3-mile course. “Nasir trains hard and races even harder,” the statement said.

JV Girls’ Soccer
Allison Price (Fr.) – Allison is always full of energy and been a great asset to her team this year. “She may be little, but she is fierce,” the statement said. “She has been on offense, she has played defense, she has played with heart and dedication in every position. She never complains or questions, she just goes in and does her best, then asks questions to learn each position as if it will be her only position.”
