CAMBRIDGE – It’s all soooo close.

The Cambridge-South Dorchester High School Vikings’ varsity and junior varsity football teams are putting on the finishing touches in preparation for Friday’s first regular-season game. The Vikes hosted squads from Parkside, Stephen Decatur and Laurel, Delaware on Friday, as teams from around the region got realistic practices and contact before the games start to count.

Scrimmages are more practice than contest. Teams played on both fields at the school simultaneously, with up to four teams on the fields at once.

Each pair of teams played on half the field, with each offense having the ball for eight minutes. Scores are not kept during scrimmages, and coaches often call plays more to gage their players’ progress, than according to what the situation might call for.

C-SD will host rivals Wicomico High School on Friday at Viking Stadium, game time 7:00 p.m. The 2016 inductees into the school’s Hall of Fame will be introduced to the crowd before the game.

The induction banquet will take place on Sept. 3 in Dorchester Career and Technology Center at 5p.m. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $20 and can be bought at school or at the door on the day of the event. Proceeds will benefit the Hall of Fame.
