CAMBRIDGE – The Cambridge-South Dorchester High School varsity football team beat the visiting Kent County Trojans 54-19 on Friday. The victory, earned on Senior Night, brought the Vikings’ record on the season to 6-1.

The Vikings took an early lead, ending the first quarter ahead 13-0. Though the visitors played hard on the line of scrimmage, and kept the contest competitive through the early going, the half ended 27-0 in favor of the home team.

At the 10:37 mark of the third quarter, the Trojans scored their first points, when receiver Taylor Lyons made a trip to the end zone. But the Vikings’ scoring pace hardly missed a step, and Kent didn’t earn another TD until just after the fourth quarter began, to make the tally 42-13.

The Banner will have more details on the game in Wednesday’s newspaper, after statistics on the game are released.
