Sargent sentenced for murder

CAMBRIDGE — On Oct. 25, the Honorable Judge Brett W. Wilson sentenced Lasonya Corinne Sargent, age 40, for the January 2018 murder of 35-year-old Sharod I. Mack. Sargent was sentenced to life in prison for first degree murder and an additional 20 years for use of firearm during the commission of a felony or a crime of violence.

On Aug. 24, 2018, after a five-day trial, a jury sitting in the Circuit Court for Dorchester County convicted Sargent, of Dorchester County, of first degree murder, second degree murder, first degree assault and use of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

The charges against Sargent arose from the shooting of Sharod I. Mack on Jan. 30, 2018.  The State’s Attorney offers condolences to the family of Mr. Mack.

State’s Attorney William H. Jones thanked the Cambridge Police Department for their work in the investigation. Mr. Jones also thanked Deputy State’s Attorney Molly W. Fox who prosecuted the case with the assistance of the State’s Attorney.
