Sargent is guilty in shooting of Mack

CAMBRIDGE — On Aug. 24, after a five-day trial, a jury sitting in the Circuit Court for Dorchester County convicted Lasonya Corinne Sargent, 40, of Dorchester County, of first degree murder, second degree murder, first degree assault and use of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

The charges against Sargent arose from the shooting of Sharod I. Mack, 35 on Jan. 30, 2018. Sargent and Mack were living together at the time of the murder.

State’s Attorney William H. Jones thanked the Cambridge Police Department for their work in the investigation. Mr. Jones also thanked Deputy State’s Attorney Molly W. Fox who prosecuted the case with the assistance of the State’s Attorney.
