On Dec. 31, 2019 at 5:52 p.m. 25 firefighters from the Eldorado Brookview VFC responded to a fire at 4930 Kraft Road, Vienna to a one-story wood-frame single-family dwelling owned by Ernestine Gaines. The fire in the interior living space took 30 minutes to control and caused $2,000 to structure and $15,000 to contents. The preliminary cause was accidental, failure of branch electrical circuit.

Man arrested for
false bomb threat
HURLOCK — On Dec. 16, 2019 at 9:40 a.m. the Hurlock Police Department was dispatched to a Bomb Threat at B&G Foods in Hurlock.

After evacuation of the facility Bomb Detection K-9 Units from throughout the state were called to the scene to search the facility. No explosive devices were located.
As result of an investigation on Dec. 18, Hurlock Police arrested Jamar Talib Smith, 31 of Cambridge.

Mr. Smith was charged with threat of mass violence, making a false report of a destructive device and making a false report of a condition imminently dangerous to public safety.

Mr. Smith was taken before the District Court Commissioner, where he was ordered held without Bond. Mr. Smith had a bail review before the District Court Judge and Mr. Smith was ordered to be held without Bond.

theft of presents
CAMBRIDGE — An investigation into the report of presents stolen from the Salvation Army is ongoing. The Cambridge Police Department says it responded to the call on Dec. 18, and there were no surveillance cameras or no signs of forced entry at the warehouse.

According to police, the items stolen have a combined total value of more than $3,000.
