The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire at this house on Aireys Road.

Intentionally set fire
CAMBRIDGE — At 4:12 a.m. on Dec. 19 35 Rescue Fire Company firefighters responded to a fire at a vacant two-story wood frame single family dwelling at 5382 Aireys Road. It was owned by Audrey Hopkins.
Discovered by a passerby the fire originated on the first floor rear room and took one hour to control.
Estimated damage was put at $20,000 with contents at $5,000.
The preliminary cause was listed as incendiary (intentionally set)

Suspect charged
with burglary, theft
HURLOCK — On Dec. 16, deputies from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office arrested Joshua Lee McGrath, 35 of 6247 Elizabeth St., Hurlock.
He was arrested in connection with a burglary and theft that occurred on Dec. 9, at 1612 Taylors Island Road.
He was charged with third degree burglary, fourth degree burglary, malicious destruction of property over $1,000, trespassing, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and theft scheme under $100.
He was ordered held without bond.

Intent to distribute
charges against suspect
CAMBRIDGE — On Dec. 6, members of the Dorchester County Narcotics Task Force which consists of members from the Maryland State Police, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, Dorchester County State’s Attorney’s Office, Cambridge Police Department, Hurlock Police Department and Homeland Security executed a Search & Seizure Warrant at 623 Douglas St., Cambridge. The target of the investigation Tayvron Rynell Daniel Mims, 32, was located inside of the residence.

The search by task force personnel resulted in the discovery of 27.4 grams of cocaine, 25.8 grams of heroin/ fentanyl mix, 1.2 lbs. of marijuana, one digital scale, 3 cell phones, 1 loaded 40-caliber Ruger handgun and 13 live rounds of ammunition. Mims is prohibited from having a firearm in Maryland.
The Task Force personnel also located medical marijuana packaging inside of the residence and believe the intent was to sell the illegal marijuana as medical marijuana to avoid prosecution.

He was charged with possession with intent to distribute a heroin/ fentanyl mix, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of heroin/ fentanyl, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a firearm during drug trafficking, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, altering a serial number on a firearm and possession of paraphernalia. He was ordered held without bond.

The Dorchester Task Force was assisted by Maryland State Police, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, Cambridge Police Department, Hurlock Police Department, M.S.P. Gang Unit East and M.S.P. Gun Unit East.

with drug possession
CAMBRIDGE — On Dec. 6, members of the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Cambridge Police Department executed a Search and Seizure Warrant at 715 Meadow Ave., Cambridge. The target of the investigation Donte Demerel Camper, 46, of that address was located inside of the residence upon entry. The search revealed cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone and suboxone strips.

He was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute a heroin/ fentanyl mix, possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of fentanyl, possession of oxycodone, possession of suboxone strips and 2 counts of possession of paraphernalia. He was ordered held without bond.
