CAMBRIDGE — The Annual Kite Festival at Sailwinds Park East, next to the Visitor’s Center on the banks of the Choptank River, took place on Sunday afternoon. With cool temperatures, sunny skies and a steady breeze, the weather was just about perfect for the event.

Families brought out many young children to fly their own kites, and to see the very large ones demonstrated by expert hobbyists. Also available for the children were rides, a mini zoo, and food.

The first kite festival took place in 2006, and has since become a Dorchester fall tradition.
