Dorchester Arts Center celebrates creative community

The winning entries in the Community Photography and Digital Arts Exhibit and Competition were announced at the Second Saturday Artists’ Reception and Awards Ceremony on October 14. Cash prizes were awarded in each division for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place, and also for Best Use of Light. Thanks to everyone who participated!

• Travel Photography with Roger Maki – Photographers of all skill levels and with any type of camera are invited to attend this workshop on Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The objectives of this workshop are to enable participants to create travel photographs that are better than mere snapshots; to know how to use their camera settings and features to control the photographic process; and to identify opportunities for photographs that may have been overlooked in the past.

Admission is free for DCA members, $20 for non-members. Space is limited – reservations advised. Call DCA at 410-228-7782. Participants should bring a bagged lunch and snacks along with their camera and user manuals.

• Community Talent On Stage – Save the date for the Friday Night Live Coffeehouse Open Mic on Oct. 27, 7.-9. p.m. New talent welcome! Call DCA at 410-228-7782 to be added to the lineup. Slots are 10 minutes; piano is available onsite. Audience members welcome, too. Come enjoy the listening experience in this friendly, supportive atmosphere. Admission is free, beverages for purchase.
