The Dorchester Center of the Arts (DCA) has been granted scholarships totaling $4,500 for its Summer Art Programs for children from the Mid-Shore Community Foundation George B. Todd Fund. These scholarships are available to Dorchester County children who wish to participate in summer art classes at DCA.

“We recognize that in Dorchester County economic constraints can prevent parents from enrolling their children in the arts,” stated Mickey Love, DCA executive director. “With this tremendous generosity of funds, that obstacle is eliminated, and we are truly grateful for the support of the George B. Todd Fund. We encourage parents to submit a scholarship application for their children.”

DCA Summer Fun begins June 20 and runs through Aug. 12 with themed week-long classes, which are designed based upon ages and according to attention span, hand size and manual dexterity. These programs are instructed by professional artists, and participants will learn new art-making skills, techniques and methods to encourage self-expression, creativity and collaboration. To inquire about scholarships or to register, call 410-228-7782.
