CAMBRIDGE – The 71st Annual Cambridge-Dorchester Christmas Parade took place Saturday evening, delighting crowds lining the streets of downtown.

Led by a color guard from the Cambridge Police Department, the parade included elected officials, many fire departments – some with the latest equipment, others driving well maintained antique vehicles – school bands and Santa Claus himself.

The annual event has traditionally been the beginning of the Christmas season in the county. It is one of the state’s largest nighttime parades and draws many visitors to take part in the fun.

The event is co-chaired by Bruce and Amanda McWilliams. The couple was grateful for all the hard work and enthusiasm from participants, saying, “Thanks everyone for making the 71st annual parade a success.”

“So much fun participating in the 71st annual Cambridge Christmas Parade,” a comment online from the Dorchester Santa Toy Drive said. “We always look forward to this. Ho Ho Ho!”

“The hometown flavor of the festivities is the best part,” Connie Barnett said.
