Summer Reading wraps up Aug. 13! Be sure to complete your tasks and game boards to collect your prizes, as well as chances to win raffle prizes! Rubber duckies, inflatable sports balls, and the blue 2016 t-shirt are all still available. Teens can still complete and turn in raffle chances to win a desired gift card from one of the following: Walmart,, Rue 21, or GameStop. Kids can also still select weekly prizes from our treasure chest when they bring in their reading logs – at both branches!

Sweet Summer Wrap-Up!
All children who complete their Summer Reading tasks and receive their t-shirt are eligible to attend a special “Summer Reading Finish Line Celebration” with ice-cream, freeze-pops, and the grand prize raffle drawing, on Aug. 20! Hurlock’s Cool Treats Celebration will be held from 10 am-noon in the Hurlock Community Building, while Cambridge’s party will be from 2-3 pm in the library’s meeting room. Go blue and wear your summer reading t-shirt to the party!

Have Your Say @ The Library!
The county still needs your voice!! Let your thoughts be heard and help make a difference in our county! Paper copies of the Dorchester County Government’s Citizen Survey are still available for completion at both library branches. For more information about the survey, please go to and select “Citizen Survey.”

Special August Book Sale!

The Friends of the Library will be holding an August Book Cellar Sale this Saturday, from 9 am-2 pm. Civil War History books will be featured. Plenty of great finds for all ages available at great, low prices!

Last Summer Story Time:
Aug. 17: Back-to-School Story Time (The Wheels on the Bus, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus…)
Story time will then take a break through the month of September, while regrouping from the Summer Reading program and families readjust to a new school year. Story Time will start back up in the Fall, during the first week of October.

Looking Ahead to September:
Stay tuned for information about new programs and old family favorites coming this Fall. Movies, board game/bingo nights, family coloring nights, and Lego League Robotics Club will be hosted in September.

The Force is Strong With Us!
Cambridge will also throw a Star Wars Party on Sept. 17, from 11 am-1 pm in the Meeting Room. School may be back in session, but the fun can continue! Channel the force by dressing up as your favorite Star Wars character. Enjoy snacks, crafts, and games of which the Rebel Alliance would be proud. Come join us you must!

Still time left to relax this summer with a great find from the library! New items continue to arrive for kids, teens, and adults. Stop in and check them out!
