Condolence scroll recipient thankful for gift

FREDERICK — “These angels came from Maryland’s Eastern Shore to Frederick, to deliver a Condolence Scroll,” said Gold Star mother Lynda Kundrat.

“My heart was so touched by the thousands of handwritten notes and messages. I cannot find the words to say thank you for such a blessed gift. Each note, each message written by someone who cared about my son’s sacrifice to say thank you, or to give me encouragement. I cannot find the words to express my humbling gratitude for each of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May each and everyone of you be held in God’s favor and be rewarded with His grace. I will always treasure this precious gift,” said Lynda Kundrat, Gold Star mother of USMC Staff Sgt. William Joseph Kundrat who lost his life in a military plane crash in Mississippi in July.

George Jackson and his wife Shirley Jackson of American Corner work tirelessly to have Condolence Scrolls signed for Gold Star Mothers of fallen service members and thank you scrolls signed for troops overseas. George and Shirley have been doing this for 23 years. They started in Bosnia and just had scrolls delivered Wednesday to troops in Afghanistan. The other lady seen in the photo is Shawna VanBlargan, another Gold Star Mother that traveled from the Maryland’s Eastern Shore to help present Mr. Jackson’s scroll.
