CAMBRIDGE — Yoga lovers can now sign on for a special session coming up on the waterfront in Cambridge on Oct. 25. Heather Rupp of the award-winning Ebb Tide Wellness Studio in Easton will lead the vinyasa class outside the Choptank River Lighthouse at Long Wharf.

Afterward, the Lighthouse will welcome participants to enjoy sunset from the deck while socializing over wine & cheese.
The event is part of a broader series of talks, screenings, tours, and more that are being held in Cambridge in conjunction with a traveling Smithsonian exhibit called “Water/Ways” that will be in Cambridge Oct. 19 to Nov. 30.

“We’re very excited to be partnering with the experts at EbbTide on a session that is going to engage people with our waterfront and our lighthouse in a new, fun, and healthy way,” said Jim Duffy, executive director of the nonprofit Cambridge Lighthouse Foundation, which is partnering with EbbTide Wellness on the event.

The event also has the support of the Heart of the Chesapeake Country Heritage Area and the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority.
A certified instructor in both yoga and meditation, Ms. Rupp plans to include elements of both disciplines in the lighthouse yoga session, with mindfulness touchpoints and themed intention incorporated with yoga so as to create a session that promises to move the heart and mind as well as the body.

“When the Foundation approached me about this, it took me about five seconds to say yes,” Ms. Rupp says. “Doing this in such a unique and gorgeous location, it’s going to be a great experience.”

The session is free and open to all skill levels, but advance reservations are required, as the size of the class will be capped at 25. Those reservations can be made through; at 410.463.2653; or by finding the event through the Choptank River Lighthouse at Facebook or Eventbrite.

The yoga class will begin at 5 p.m. The sun is slated to set that night at 6:13 p.m.
