CAMBRIDGE — The band and chorus of Cambridge-South Dorchester High School won the coveted Esprit de Corps award at the recent Music in the Parks Festival held in Hershey, Pa. The award, for which all participating groups were eligible, was presented to the top school who “demonstrated proper social behavior as well as musical behavior/encouragement. They possess the qualities of highly successful people who are sensitive to the feelings of others and applaud accomplishments no matter if by one’s own school or another school.”

Evaluation for the award took place from arrival at the Festival through the awards presentation. “This award was a testament to the character and integrity of our students here at C-SD,” said C-SDHS Band Director Scott Bunting who accompanied the groups to the Festival along with Melissa Slacum, choral director. “The students really did earn this award and had a great showing at the performances. These end of year performances tend to be a great showcase for what they have accomplished and how they have grown throughout the year.”

The band and chorus also received a trophy for their 2nd place finishes in their respective divisions, having earned a rating of Excellent from the adjudicators for their musical performances.
