Amanda Bair selected as Carson Scholar for 2016-2017

CAMBRIDGE — Amanda Bair, an eighth-grade student at Mace’s Lane Middle School was named a Carson Scholar for school year 2016-2017. She received this award based on her many academic and community accomplishments. Amanda is an exceptional student who has maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout middle school. She is very active in her school and community.

Amanda participates in the band at school and had recently earned “All Shore Honors.” She is very active in her Church’s Youth Group and freely volunteers her time to help others in her community. Amanda is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and has received numerous awards and recognitions while attending Mace’s Lane Middle School. Amanda was recognized during a banquet which was held on April 30.

The Carson Scholars Fund awards $1,000 college scholarships to students in grades 4-11 who excel academically and are dedicated to serving their communities. Scholarship winners receive the honor of being named “Carson Scholars” and are awarded an Olympic-sized medal and a trophy for their school to celebrate their accomplishments. Previous winners of Carson Scholarships are eligible to reapply for Carson Scholar Recognition annually. Carson Scholars must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and display humanitarian qualities through community service. Scholarships are awarded solely based on academic achievement and humanitarian qualities, without regard to financial need, ethnicity, creed, or religion.
