‘Tribute To Our Heroes’ set for Sept. 6 at Governor’s Hall

CAMBRIDGE — The Veterans’ Recognition Committee will hold its annual “Tribute to Our Heroes” on Sept. 6 in Governor’s Hall at Sailwinds Park.
The tribute honors all veterans, police, fire and EMS personnel.

Special to Dorchester Banner/Veterans Committee Bill Smith will be firing his cannon as the Star Spangled Banner is sounded on Sept. 6, at Governors Hall, Sailwinds Park. The Veterans Recognition Committee will be hostingtheir 16th Annual “Tribute To Our Heroes” at 11 sharp. Admission is free.

Guest speaker will be Ralph Cordrey, adjutant of the American Legion Post 218 in Sharptown.
Doors open at 10 a.m. and the tribute will start promptly at 11 a.m. followed by a USO show with Lilly and D. J. Wooten, T. George Wittstadt, Missy Lecompte and the Delmarva Emerald Society of Bagpipes and Drums.
The color guard is comprised of the Maryland State Police, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Department, Cambridge Police Department and Post 648 Vietnam Veterans of America.
There will also be many military, fire, and police displays along with motorcycles rides by veterans on display.
Bill Smith will be firing his cannon as the Star Spangled Banner is sounded. The public is invited to attend and help honor our heroes.
