CAMBRIDGE — The Dorchester Skipjack Committee recently received a $5,000 grant from the Pauline Foxwell Robbins and William David Robbins Charitable Foundation Trust in support of this year’s Choptank Heritage Skipjack Race. Race Committee Chairman Lou Hyman accepted the donation from Leonard Foxwell, president of the Trust and brother of the late Pauline “Polly” Foxwell Robbins.
The Trust was established under terms of Mr. and Mrs. Robbins’ estate following their deaths in 2008 and 2011, respectively. Its mission is to enrich the lives of Dorchester County citizens and the “shore” way of life.
Mr. Hyman thanked Mr. Foxwell and the Trust for their generosity in helping to keep an important part of the county’s heritage alive through its major support for the race.
The Choptank Heritage Skipjack Race takes place from Long Wharf in Cambridge, beginning at 10 a.m. on Sept. 27.
