Outdoor Show visits Cameron Parish

2019 Little Miss Outdoors Kaydence Kurth and Little Mister Outdoors Nathan Hall got in touch with local wildlife, handling baby alligators during their visit last week to the Louisiana Fur & Wildlife Festival in Cameron Parish. Every year, there is an exchange of pageant winners and their families, with the Louisiana delegation attending the National Outdoor Show in Dorchester in February.

GRAND CHENIER, La. — Pageant winners and their families traveled to Cameron Parish, Louisiana last week for the 2020 Louisiana Fur & Wildlife Festival. Miss Outdoors 2019 Jocelyn Myers, Little Miss Kaydence Kurth and Little Mister Nathan Hall attended shows, a parade, and took an airboat ride in one of the swamps the area is known for.

They took part in another tradition of the visit, getting up close and personal with local wildlife, as they held baby alligators. The young people and their family members also sampled some of the state’s favorite cuisine, such as gumbo.

“We couldn’t be more proud of Jocelyn, Kaydence and Nathan!” a statement Outdoor Show organizers said. “We are so happy to hear they as well as their families had a blast. We can’t wait to meet the newly crowned Miss Cameron Parish and her Louisiana delegation in a few weeks! Please join us Feb. 28 to see who will be crowned Miss Outdoors 2020. On Feb. 29 we will also crown a new Little Miss and Little Mister. We hope to see you there.”

The new Miss Cameron Parish is Alivia Mudd.

Miss Outdoors Jocelyn Meyers wrote online, “All I want is to represent and make Dorchester County proud – to say I’m humbled is an understatement. And the love and hospitality I’ve received since the moment I stepped off that plane in Lake Charles is indescribable. From the bottom of my heart, I am thankful for the people of Louisiana who have welcomed my family and I with open arms. Specifically, to our friends from the Fur and Wildlife festival, Louisiana delegation, and the Mudd family whom we had the pleasure of meeting last February at the Outdoor Show. Y’all mean the world to us and we love you!”
