CAMBRIDGE — Interested in Sailing? Looking for a unique volunteer opportunity? Join in on a sail training session, Oct. 11 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on the Skipjack Nathan of Dorchester at Long Wharf in Cambridge. The captain and crew will tell you all about the boat and the volunteer opportunities and perhaps even go for a quick sail to give you an idea about what they do and how they operate.

The Skipjack Nathan of Dorchester is a commercial passenger carrying sailing vessel with a volunteer crew and commanded by a professional Coast Guard licensed captain. The nonprofit Dorchester Skipjack Committee owns, preserves and operates the Skipjack Nathan of Dorchester to promote Cambridge and Dorchester County’s maritime heritage and tourism by offering educational on-the-water experiences on an authentic Chesapeake Bay sailing vessel.

They look forward to meeting you and showing you their boat on Oct. 11. They’ll have a full orientation and classroom training early next year so everyone is ready to start sailing in late April.

Space is limited so e-mail info@skipjack-nathan.org or call 410-228-7141 and leave a message so they can save you a spot.
