Department needs citizens’ input on survey

Dorchester County Adult League Soccer was filled with action on Nov. 4. Administrators at Recreation and Parks are asking the public to complete a citizen survey to help continue improving programs and facilities.

CAMBRIDGE — Every five years, the Recreation and Parks Department is responsible for generating a plan for the following five years that identifies and prioritizes the recreational wants and needs of the county. This plan gets submitted to, and approved by, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

The DNR serves as the agency through which the County accesses Program Open Space funds for the acquisition and development of recreational facilities. Getting public input is critical for identifying needs and establishing the goals that will address the recreational wants and needs of Dorchester County’s residents and visitors.
In the past, public meetings were held at different times in different parts of the County. With COVID, being able to get people together for solicitation of in person input is much more complicated, if not impossible in some cases, a statement from Department Director Frank Stout said.
