County Council recognizes veterans

At its Sept. 6 meeting, the Dorchester County Council honored military veterans in advance of the Saturday, Veterans’ Recognition Day. A Veterans’ Recognition Day event will be held beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday at the East New Market Fire Department. From left are Councilman Don Satterfield, a 37-year U.S. Army and Army National Guard veteran; Councilman Tom Bradshaw; Councilman Rick Price; Dave Regester, commander of American Legion Post #243 in Hurlock and eight-year Coast Guard veteran; Council President Ricky Travers; Shirley Jackson, of the local Veterans’ Recognition Committee; George Ames, judge advocate with American Legion Post #87 in Cambridge and six-year Air Force veteran; and Councilman William Nichols.
