Still no confirmed COVID-19 in Dorchester

CAMBRIDGE — As of 10 a.m. today, March 24, Dorchester County still does not have any reported cases of a positive COVID-19 test result, a statement from County Council Member Lenny Pfeffer (District 4) said.

“The Dorchester County Public Schools are doing great things with their food drop off locations,” the statement said. “They have advised that staff has enough personnel to handle that program at this time so volunteers are not needed there.

“But Midshore Meals till Monday is in need of volunteers, especially outside of the Cambridge area such as Hurlock and Vienna. To reach them you can call 443 225-6789, or search for them on Facebook.

“The Department of Social Services is currently running at a smaller staff size than normal. Anyone needing their services to report any Adult or Child Abuse should call 410-330-6874 during this time period as we are addressing this virus.

“Many people are asking about testing. At this time testing is being done only on those people that are exhibiting symptoms associated with the COVID-19 virus, especially those with high risk due to underlying conditions, or those exposed to a known positive case.

“Please call your health care provider or hospital before you show up at their door, so they can provide safety for their staff and other patients. Those that do not have a primary care provider may want to consider Fassett Magee at 503 Muir St. in Cambridge as they have said they will attempt to assist those in need of care without a physician. Their number is 410-228-4045.

“Thank you all for maintaining your social distancing and practicing hand washing and common sense hygiene. If we all do our part, we will get through this together!”
