CAMBRIDGE — Sometimes, kids just need to cut loose.

Now they can, in a place built just for that. Cabin Fever Play Centre is open at 442 Race St., offering active fun for little ones.

Owners Richard and Jess LaPerch are the parents of three children. Knowing what families need and recognizing an opportunity, they decided to act.

“We needed something for the kids to do,” Ms. LaPerch said, adding that she and her husband wanted to keep things accessible and close to home.

“We wanted it to be affordable,” she said, “We wanted it to be in Cambridge — it’s where we raise our kids.”

The business is located on the site of the previous Salvation Army store; before that, some local residents might remember it was the Sears building. Now, though, 1,500-foot area has a colorful playground structure, with climbing, obstacle courses, slides, swings and more.

“Let your children expend their energy in a healthy way, in our fun, safe environment,” the company’s website says. “Parents are welcomed to and encouraged to play along. Our structure is built large enough for parents to join in.”

There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, at noon. To contact Cabin Fever Play Centre, call 410-228-2122, or visit www.cabinfeverplaycentre.com.
